"You don't always need a plan. Just breath, trust, let go and see what happens"
- Tiny Buddha
I followed a Skillshare class by the lovely Lauren Hom to create this chalk mural. The quote by Tiny Buddha inspired me, because I tend to overthink some of my passion projects. I make plans and I edit my pieces to a point, where I end up spending so much time on them, that I grow impatient, move on and they never see the light of day. There is a point to be made about about good planning, saving time in the long run but not if you over-plan and overthink. Some things just need to be spontaneous, bursts of creativity without the constraints of perfectionism. A quote by Da Vinci follows alongside that and always pops into my head when it comes to perfectionism, ever since I heard it in fine art class at school: "Art is never finished, it's only abandoned."
This blackboard/specials sign hangs in my kitchen, which means I inevitably walk past it every day. It reminds me that not everything needs to be thought out into every detail, or it will never see the light of day. I plan on creating more lettering work, on paper, chalk and digitally. To follow my progress and learn lettering basics as I learn them myself, follow me on social media for updates about upcoming projects.
