SITUATION
Our journey began as a collaborative initiative between The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Kurzgesagt, aimed at spotlighting the overlooked realm of Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs).
These ancient and excruciating afflictions often slip under the radar, grappling with scarce media attention and funding for prevention and cure.
Our challenge was to craft an engaging explainer video that would not only educate but also evoke empathy for these silent sufferers.
SOLUTION
Sonja orchestrated the entire animation process while providing a unique direction to the motion design execution.
The Kurzgesagt in-house illustration team joined forces to bring this vision to life.
To convey the gravity of the subject, they adopted a dark and moody aesthetic, a deliberate choice to magnify the urgency of the matter at hand.
The narrative, while sobering, was ingeniously subverted—a poignant reminder that these diseases, often caused by parasites, are more conquerable than commonly perceived.
Amidst the darkness, we illuminated the silver linings of cures that exist yet remain hidden in the shadows of public awareness.
SUCCESS
Delivered captivating motion graphic design think piece.
Captured viewers with an immersive narrative, enriched with an unforeseen twist that rivets the audience's attention.
Enriched marketing efforts with GIFs and succinct visual content, aiding the Gates Foundation in their wide reaching communication campaign.
Magnified awareness, joining the Foundation's marketing arsenal in their mission to combat NTDs.
Our journey through the world of NTDs underscores the potency of motion design in generating empathy, awareness, and action.
This project stands as an emblem of our commitment to transformative communication. Together, we can continue to foster awareness, understanding, and progress through compelling visual storytelling.
