SITUATION
Vsauce3 and Kurzgesagt set out to create a seamless YouTube channel collaboration between the two channels.
Vsauce3 video should combine Jake Roper’s live‑action storytelling with Kurzgesagt’s signature animated style.
To achieve this, both teams needed tightly coordinated production, direct communication, and a workflow that ensured their independently produced scenes would integrate flawlessly in the final edit
SOLUTION
I led the animation work for both the Kurzgesagt segment and the integration of the Vsauce3 scenes, collaborating directly with Jake Roper and leading the Kurzgesagt motion design team.
Through careful planning and continuous communication, we aligned timing, transitions, and visual cues so the live‑action footage and animated sequences would fit together like puzzle pieces.
All animation followed the established Kurzgesagt design language, illustrated by the studio’s illustration department.
SUCCESS
Streamlined live‑action and animation integration.
Improved production efficiency with clear communication between teams in different workflows.
Supported narrative clarity by aligning animation beats with Jake’s on‑camera storytelling.
Delivered polished, ready‑to‑cut sequences that reduced editing complexity for both channels.
The Vsauce3 x Kurzgesagt collaboration achieved a tight visual cohesion, smooth integration between live‑action and animation, and a unified final release, helping both channels deliver a polished collaboration that strengthened audience engagement.
